Throughout previous years that vulnerable refugees especially elderly and children are COERR’s target groups. Cultural preservation is a program designed for these two generations to meet and exchange opinion through traditional tales and stories, music and songs, and even physical exercise. These events have been organized at COERR Social Service Center (SSC) in each camp on a monthly basis.
Early 2018, COERR Mae Hong Son has organized “Walking for Healthier Living” activity for refugees in Ban Mae Surin camp to enjoy outdoor activities such as walking and exercising in sunshine and fresh air.
However, there are some elderly who are sick and stay at home. COERR then organized activities to ensure that they are not left behind. Therefore, having volunteer youth and children visit them for talking and helping them clean their houses was implemented to strengthen these two generations’ relationship.
Moreover, another group of children enjoy community service by gathering together to collect garbage abandoned in the public areas along roadside and stream bank in order to help their camp and environment cleaner and healthier for living.

They are proud to see elderly’s happiness with children around talking, working and laughing together. The children said they enjoy the activity and would be willing to participate again.
